Apple proudly announced that six million people have upgraded to the new iPhone 3.0 software earlier this week, but new stats from mobile ad network AdMob indicate that the overwhelming majority of them are iPhone users.
In fact, requests from its advertising network indicate that just 1% of iPod touch owners have upgraded to the new software. Why? Well, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the $10 charge for the software upgrade might be the reason.
iPhone users don't have to pay, and according to AdMob 44% of them have upgraded.
What can Apple do, though? Its policy of charging for major iPod touch software updates isn't new - the company did the same thing for the 2.0 update. It may decide to wait it out, and hope that as whizzy iPhone 3.0 apps are released, iTouch owners will bite the bullet and upgrade.
However, it's not great news for developers, since iPod touch makes up a significant proportion of the install base for the iPhone OS. In March at the launch event for iPhone 3.0, Apple said it had sold 17 million iPhones and 13 million iPod touches.

I'm not so concerned that the muffler is belching jizz, but just that it is belching any color viscous _fluid_ is a bit disturbing, for a muffler. That's just me.
